How a Blower Door Test Works
A specially trained technician from Gills Indoor Air Quality conducts a duct leakage test in your home to determine the amount of air leaking from your ductwork (measured in cubic feet of air leakage per minute or CFM50).
- We fit our blower door into one of your doorways & turn it on
- We are able to measure the leakage around your doors, windows, vents & air ducts
Once we've identified the trouble spots, we repair the leaks, leaving you with a more cost efficient home.

If your ductwork needs sealing, Gills Indoor Air Quality seals the leaks and conducts a second duct leakage test to determine the reduction.
Air sealing
Sealing the shell of your home— walls, doors, ceiling, windows and floors—from air leaks is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to increase comfort and energy efficiency. Sealing air leaks reduces drafts, controls moisture, keeps out pollutants and improves overall comfort.
Many air leaks and drafts are easy to find because they are easy to feel, like those around doors and windows. However, hiring Gills to perform a Blower Door test, which pressurizes and depressurizes your home to measure air leakage, can save you money and save energy.
Insulation
Properly insulating your floors, walls and attic keeps you comfortable throughout the year, reduces your heating and cooling costs, reduces outside noise, and saves you energy. Before beginning an insulation project, it’s recommended that you have Gills Indoor Air Quality perform an air leakage test and seal any air leaks in your home to maximize the performance of your insulation.
